Description	:	Minnie Alice Hanshaw Minnie Alice Pickett, daughter of Asahel and Sarah Pickett, was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, April 9th, 1868 and departed this life at her home in Bloomfield at 5:30 p.m. on February 4th, 1948 at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 25 days. With the exception of a short residence in Kansas between the years of 1895 and 1906, her entire life was spent in Van Buren and Davis counties. Read More	Minnie Alice Hanshaw Minnie Alice Pickett, daughter of Asahel and Sarah Pickett, was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, April 9th, 1868 and departed this life at her home in Bloomfield at 5:30 p.m. on February 4th, 1948 at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 25 days. With the exception of a short residence in Kansas between the years of 1895 and 1906, her entire life was spent in Van Buren and Davis counties. On January 22nd, 1891, she was united in marriage to Ernest Adeil Hanshaw at Keosauqua, Iowa. To this union four children were born, three of whom survive. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away 35 years ago, and by one daughter, Helen Iris, who died in infancy. Surviving her are two sons, Lester Hanshaw of Sebastian, Florida, and Lyle Hanshaw of College Park, Georgia and one daughter, Mrs. Agnes Loper of Bloomfield, with whom she had made her home for the past thirty years. There are also three grandchildren: Loell Loper of Bloomfield, Mrs. LaVern Hill of Des Moines, Iowa and Miss Holly Hanshaw of Sebastian, Florida. Three brothers and two sisters also mourn her passing, they being George Pickett and Frank Pickett of Tulsa Okla., Clyde Pickett and Frank Pickett, both of Ottumwa, Iowa. Mrs. Josephine Eager of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Mrs. Bessie Else of Chicago, Illinois. Her father, mother and three sisters preceded her in death. She confessed her faith in Christ and accepted him as her Savior early in life. She has lived a consistent Christian life throughout the trials and tribulations that had been her lot for more than fifty years, always quiet, and unassuming, with a faith that was grounded firm and deep in her Saviors love. She will be sadly missed in the home where she had lived so long, and widely mourned in the community by all who knew her kindly Christian spirit, but our loss is her great gain. She is safe in the arms of Jesus. Funeral services were conducted at the Carl Funeral Home in Bloomfield, on Saturday, Feb. 7th, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Glade Yost of Centerville, officiated assisted by Rev. E. D. Kretzinger, pastor of the Bloomfield Church of the Open Bible. Burial was in the plot at Drakesville. Life is sure. Death is sure.
