Description	:	Mrs. J. M. Barker Minnie Alice was born to James F. and Elzan [Rissler] Yocum, August 29, 1883, the fifth in a family of ten children. She was born near Confidence in Wayne County, Iowa and spent her entire life in the same locality. Barker Minnie Alice was born to James F. and Elzan [Rissler] Yocum, August 29, 1883, the fifth in a family of ten children. She was born near Confidence in Wayne County, Iowa and spent her entire life in the same locality. After several months of suffering, she died at her home south of Russell on March 18, 1954 at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 20 days. On March 3, 1909 [in Confidence, Wayne County, Iowa] she was married to John Milton Barker and to them one daughter, Mabel Pauline, was born. Early in her life she obeyed the Gospel and was a faithful member of the Sunnyslope Church of Christ at the time of her death. Her parents and five brothers and sisters have preceded her in death: George, William and Rosalie in childhood, Edwin in 1921 and Mrs. Cora Kern in 1949. She will be greatly missed by her companion of forty-five years; the daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Howard Vincent; three grandchildren - Hazel Elzan, Mary Dianne and Jacob Milton Vincent; three sisters and brother, Mrs. Ida Atwell of Chariton, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Thatcher of Corydon, Iowa; Ethel and Fred Yocum of New London, Iowa and also many other relatives and friends. A short memorial service was held at the Sunnyslope Church of Christ, Sunday, March 21 at 1;30 p.m. conducted by James McPherson of Des Moines, Iowa and assisted by Bob Morrow of Leon, Iowa. The funeral service was held in the Christian Church at Confidence at 2:30 with Melvin Stafford of Des Moines in charge assisted by Waldo Hoar of Johnson City, Tenn., who also furnished music at both services. Pallbearers wer C. W. Vanderlinden, Charles Bravard, George Maxey, Gerald Ellis, Bob Smith and Clifford Lane. Flowers were taken care of by Mrs. Franklin Matsler, Mrs. C. L. Colver, Mrs. Ivan Empey and Mrs. C. W. Vanderlinden. Burial was in the Confidence Cemetery. -unknown newspaper
