July 3, 1998 ________________________________________________ FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. HENRY PETERS HELD TODAY Mrs. Minnie Augusta Peters, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Block, was born Sept. 8th, 1874 in Germany, came with her parents and two brothers to America when eight years of age. After a lingering illness of several years she passed away at the Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton, last Tuesday, Nov. 14th at 5 am. age 70 years where she had been a patient for a week. In 1901 she became the wife of Henry G. Peters, living at first north of DeWitt before moving to the home place 3 miles north of Grand Mound in 1910. Five years ago she moved to the present home in Grand Mound. Besides her husband Henry G. Peters, those mourning her passing are five children, Leonard, who at present, is serving in the U. S. Army, LeRoy of Grand Mound, Mrs. Virtus Paarmann, of DeWitt, and Mrs. A. Johnson, also of DeWitt. One son preceded his mother in death. Also surviving and mourning her departure, are four brothers Herman, Henry, Gus and John Block and 8 grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the home Thursday Nov. 16th, at 1:45 o'clock and at 2 o'clock in the Trinity Lutheran church with the pastor Rev. N. C. Ellermann officiating. Mrs. John Laasch and Mrs. Willis Laasch sang "Rock of Ages" and "Heav'n Is My Home" accompanied by Mrs. John Laasch at the organ. The body was reposed in the Kelly Funeral Home till Wednesday afternoon, when it was removed to the home. Pall Bearers were: Arnold Block, Adolph Block, Herbert Block, Raymond Block, Eldon Rock, Reinhart Rock. In charge of flowers: Arlene Paarmann, Esther Paarmann, Phyllis Jean Johnson, Carol Ann Johnson, Mary Jane Block, Irene Kelly, Alice McElny and Aulda Paarmann.
