Minna Maria Emma Bokemeier was born on Nov. 28, 1897, in rural Sheffield to Henry and Mary Meyer Bielefeld. Minnie was schooled in rural schools near Sheffield and married William "Putz" August Bokemeier on Sept. 18, 1919, at Sheffield. The couple farmed east of Sheffield before moving into town in 1939. Minnie was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a faithful and active member of the Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield. She was also the oldest member. She was a fun and loving person and enjoyed cooking and baking. Minnie entered the Sheffield Care Center in January 1994 and died there on Tuesday morning (May 23, 2000) at the age of 102. Survivors include her son-in-law, William Loeffelhardt Jr. of Sheffield; as well as five grandchildren, William Loeffelhardt III, Jean Loeffelhardt, Gwendolyn Foster Reed, Cynthia Foster Curry and David L. Foster Jr.; and five great-grandchildren. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Putz, in April of 1965; her two daughters, Marilyn Sperry and Elayne Loeffelhardt; two brothers, Walter and Albert; and two sisters, Emma and Helen.
