Read More	OBITUARY - Published in The Gaffney (SC) Ledger on April 19, 2017 MINNIE RIPPY ~ Blacksburg, S.C. — Minnie Irene Camp Rippy, 97, formerly of 840 Holly Ridge Road, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Peachtree Centre. ~ Born in Blacksburg on July 20, 1919, she was the wife of the late James Allen Rippy and daughter of the late Basil Augustus and Hardenia Allison Camp. She was the oldest member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church, Blacksburg, S.C. She worked in the textile industry at Minette Mills, Grover, N.C. She was the only surviving member of the 1937 graduating class of Blacksburg Centralized High School. She was a devoted homemaker and fabulous cook, well known for her delicious German chocolate cake as well as her fried apple pies and egg custard, recipes handed down to her by her mother. ~ Surviving are daughters, Elizabeth R. Hannon and Margaret R. McCraw (James Harold) of Gaffney, S.C.; Sarah M. Bridges (Mike) of Blacksburg, S.C.; son Charles Allen Rippy of Lincolnton, N.C. She has 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Reba R. Hoopaugh of Charlotte, N.C. and Norma R. McDaniel of Shelby, N.C. She has 10 nieces and nephews. ~ She was predeceased by a son Jack Edward Rippy, sisters Ruth C. Rippy and Geraldine C. Harvey, one brother Augustus Fay Camp, son-in-law Billy G. Hannon, daughter in-law Wanda J. Rippy, a grandson Michael Rippy, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. ~ The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Mt. Paran Baptist Church. Graveside services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Paran Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Lee Coyle officiating. ~ Memorials may be made to: Mt. Paran Baptist Church, 105 Mt. Paran Road, Blacksburg, SC 29702. ~ The family will be at their respective homes. ~ Blakely Funeral Home & Crematory, Gaffney, S.C.
