The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Stoneville, where she was a member. Interment will follow at Lewellen Cemetery on Ledbetter Road in Stoneville. Mrs. Edwards was born on March 29, 1917, in Rockingham County, a daughter of the late Jack Smith and the late Nanny Bell Hopkins Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Eugene Edwards in 1973, four sisters, Elsie Nelson, Beatrice Jackson, Mabel Hazlip and Carrie Smith and two brothers, Perry Smith and Eual Smith. She is survived by her son, Raymond Edwards of Mayodan; special friend, Ann Carter of Stoneville; two sisters, Mildred Hill of Stoneville and Hallie Smith of Mayodan; one brother, Coy Smith of Mayodan; three grandchildren, Ray Edwards Jr., Debbie Brim and April Brame; three great-grandchildren, Michael Edwards, Johnny Edwards, Josh Edwards; and one step great-grandchild, Pamela Brame. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and all other times at the home of Ann Carter, 1063 Stone Mountain Road, Stoneville. Ray Funeral Home in Madison is in charge of arrangements.
