She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Howard Jones, Rudd, Iowa, Nov. 24, 1930, at the age of 41 years 3 months and 7 days. She grew to womanhood in Cedar county Iowa and on February 20, 1907 was united in marriage at Clarence, Iowa to Peter S. Jansen of Wyoming, Iowa. In the spring of 1908 they moved to a farm near Beinfait, Canada, where they resided twelve years. Mr. and Mrs. Jansen were the parents of four children, Mrs. Howard Jones of Rudd, Iowa, who was born at Clarence, Iowa; John Arthur, who died at the age of three and one-half years; Lillian Margaret, and Albert Harold, at home, all of whom were born in Canada. In the spring of 1920 the family moved to Rudd, Iowa and have since made their home in this vicinity. Mrs. Jansen has been ill about six weeks. A part of the time she was under treatment at the Cedar Valley hospital but the past week she was staying with her daughter, Mrs. Jones in Rudd. Monday morning at 12:30 o'clock death came very unexpectedly caused by a stroke of apoplexy. Mrs. Jansen was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Nicholas Lafrenty; one brother, Charles Henry, and one sister, Mrs. Freda Martens. She is survived by her husband, Peter S. Jansen, and three children; also her father, Nicholas Lafrenty; two brothers, Ferdinand and William, and one sister, Mrs. Sander Haggen of Beinfait, Canada, also a brother Ernest of Floyd, Iowa and a host of relatives and friends. Mrs. Jansen was baptized in the Lutheran faith at the age of seven years, which faith she retained throughout her life. She received her education in the public schools of Wheatland and Davenport, Iowa. As a true wife and loving mother she has reared her children in the teachings of God. She endeavored to do this splendidly, keeping as her motto the golden rule of doing unto others as she would have them do unto her. In times of need she has been always willing to do her utmost to aid and assist those whom she could, believing that in thus doing she was fulfilling the mind of her master, always carrying with her a smile and good cheer. Her passing takes away an affectionate wife and a loving mother and the community is bereft of a splendid neighbor and a friend. All of those neighbors and friends wish to extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family. A short service was held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Howard Jones at 1:30 p.m. Thanksgiving day, Nov. 27. At two o'clock the funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church, Rudd, Iowa, Rev. F.O. Hillman, pastor of the church officiating. Burial was made in the Rudd cemetery.
