Her parents came from Marshalltown and were early settlers in Havelock and at one time lived on a farm one-half mile south of the intersection of Highways #4 and #10 on the west side of the road. Gill, 93, Resident Since 1883, Dies at Havelock HAVELOCK: —Mrs. S. H. Gill, 93, one of Havelock's oldest residents, died Friday night at her home. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at the Havelock Methodist church with the Rev. C. L. Day of Bradgate, a former pastor of the church, officiating. Mrs. Frank Kirby and Mrs. Eugene Dyvig, accompanied by Mrs. John Whitman, sang "There is No Disappointment in Heaven" and "Going Home." Pallbearers were great grandsons. They were Erwin Obrecht of Algona, Clarke Miller of Titonka, D. J. Gabrielson of Winterset, and Gerald, Irwin and Claude Barth of Havelock. Burial was in Washington cemetery, with Hitchcock Funeral Home of Laurens in charge. Minnie Perry, youngest child of a family of nine children of Mr. and Mrs. WilliamPerry, was born April 22,1863, at Illinois Grove, Iowa. She received her education in that community, and in 1883 the family moved to Havelock. Here she met and was married to Samuel H. Gill on June 20,1884, and was a mother to his two daughters, Viola and Elta. After Viola's death she made a home for Beth and Joyce Clarke. Mr. Gill died in 1944. Mrs. Gill was a longtime member of the Havelock Methodist church, and was an active church and community worker as long as her health permitted. She is survived by one stepdaughter, Mrs. Elta Barth of Havelock; five grandchildren, many great grandchildren; three nieces and three nephews, and other relatives. Relatives and friends from away who attended the funeral were from Chicago, Ill.; Byron, Ill.; Blue Earth, Minn.; New Providence, Pocahontas, Emmetsburg, Estherville, Storm Lake, Laurens, Burt, Curlew, Nevada, Jolley, Algona, Titonka, Fort Dodge, Plover, Hull, Marcus, Marshalltown and Winterset.
