Hatton (sic), a sister-in-law of Bailey Carroll, died at her home near Edgar Saturday, after an illness of several years. She was 56 years old. Her husband, one son and two grandchildren survive. Those going from Nelson to attend the funeral services on Monday, were: Bailey Carroll, Elvin Carroll and family, Ora Carroll and family, Mrs. Effie Hatch and Miss Elledge. ========================================== The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Friday, July 2, 1926; pg. 1 Minnie Stella Powell was born at Millville, Missouri, August 30, 1863 (sic), the youngest daughter of William and Margaret Powell. She removed with her parents to the vicinity of Edgar, Nebraska, at the age of fourteen, where she was married to Emerson Errett Hattan on January 4, 1889, by whom she had one child, a son Howard S. On July 10, 1916, she was operated upon at Rochester, Minnesota and had been a continual sufferer ever since, learning to walk four different times. At an early age she was converted and united with the Christian Church, it continuing to be her preference up to her death. She was a member of the Degree of Honor. She passed away at her late home near Edgar, Saturday, Jun 26, 1926, aged 57 years, 9 months and 26 days, being survived by her husband, Mr. Errett Hattan, her son, Howard and two brothers, B. A. Powell of Edgar and Sylvenus Powell of Fair Play, Missouri, and one sister, Mrs. Martha Graham, of Ragan, Nebraska and 2 grandchildren. Mrs. Hattan was a kind and loving wife and mother and a sympathetic friend and neighbor always placing other before herself and in the times of sickness and need was one of the first to offer her assistance and aid. Though often weary with long hours of watching beside the sick, she was never to tired to give her best efforts to the alleviation of pain and sickness She gave her very soul to her loved ones and friends, "magnificently free" and though her spirit has awakened in another world, her sweet influence and generous nature and tender care for others will always live in the heart of those who knew and loved her best Funeral service was conducted from her late home Monday, June 28, 1926 at 2:00 P.
