Cates, was born July 10, 1883, died Aug. 3, 1903, aged 20 years and 24 days. Minnie has had a frail body from infancy, often life hanging as it were in a balance. During the last year there has been a gradual decline in health. Three months ago there was a decided change for the worse. Medical aid was summoned, but medical aid and all that loving hands could do have failed. For 3 months anxious parents have struggled between hope and despair of the precious life, but despite the heroic efforts of herself and all that could be done for her, she finally succumbed to death. She entertained hopes of recovery, after all others said that it was impossible, until last Friday she said she could not get well. She then calmly and deliberately made some arrangements for her funeral, naming those whom she wished to conduct it. She retained consciousness until a few hours previous to her death, and amid intense suffering but without struggle the spirit took its flight. Three sisters have preceded her to the glory land: viz. Maude, the oldest, Myrl, the youngest and Annie the next youngest than herself. The home is left desolate and lonely by their absence in body, but they are "beckoning the dear ones to the heavenly home," which Jesus said he had gone on to prepare. "Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." One year ago Minnie accepted Jesus as her personal Savior, having since been faithful in her allegiance to Him, acknowledging Him on all suitable occasions and being faithful in prayer at the family altar. In this dispensation of Providence we bow in submission, recognizing the hand of God in it, and that He doeth all things well.
