The cause of her death was pneumonia resulting from an attack of grippe. She had been ill only a few days and her death was a surprise to the greater number of Moran people as it was not generally known she was sick. Her husband, Reverend J.M. Hanson is also ill, and was not able to accompany the body of his wife to the cemetery, The funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock conducted by the Reverend F.C. Cash. Mr. and Mrs. Hanson had been married two days less than two months. Mr. Hanson’s friends all extend their sympathy in his sorrow. From the Moran, Kansas Herald, Friday, 21 January 1916, page 4 Obituary Miranda DeHart was born 18 February 1843 in Morgantown, Indiana. In early childhood she moved to Illinois with her paretns. When quite young she converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. In 1861 she was united to J.L. Chapman, who with their six children, preceded her to the Glory World. Thirty-three years ago she located in Moran. At this time she untied with the Methodist Protestant chuch and continued faithful to the end. On 11 November 1915 she married Reverend J.M. Hanson. She passed to her reward 10 January 1916, aged 72 years, 10 months and 22 days. She is survived by her husband, Mrs. Ellen Godfrey, Grisword, and a brother Ashbury DeHart of Oakland, Iowa. A niece, Mrs. Orpha Smith resides in Moran.
