Description	:	Mrs. Maranda J. Cline was born in Columbus, Ohio, April 1, 1833, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Stover, 2-1/2 miles west of Hills Iowa, Jan. 29, 1907, aged 73 yrs. 9 months and 19 days. With her parents, Geo. And Matilda Cline, and her four sisters and one brother, she came down the Ohio river and up the Miss and landed at Burlington in 1837. With her parents, Geo. And Matilda Cline, and her four sisters and one brother, she came down the Ohio river and up the Miss and landed at Burlington in 1837. Here they remained until 1841 when they removed and settled near Hills Ia. In 1870 Mrs. Cline purchased a farm two miles south of Hills on which farm she lived until 1900 when she moved into her residence in Hills where she lived till she was called to come up high. In 1887 she was united with the Christian church of which she was member until the organization of the Presbyterian church in Hills in 1898. Uniting with the latter as a charter member she remained faithful and devoted till she joined the “church triumphant.” Full of years she was gathered like a ripened sheaf among the garnered. She was a ceaseless toiler, and it was while helping to care for the life of her youngest grandchild that she brought upon herself that which caused her to give up her own life. She was smitten on Jan. 20, 1907. She is survived by two daughters and one son, Mrs. Robt. Shellady of Riverside, and Mrs. Jos. Stover of Hills, and Berdett Cline of Aitkin, Minn. There are also ten grandchildren, one sister and two brothers who mourn her loss. The sisters and brothers of the deceased are Mrs. Mary Fesler of Cache Okla. Geo. Cline of Conesville, Ia. and David Cline of Lone Tree. There were present with her at the time of her death, Robt. Shellady, wife and children, Jos. Stover, wife and children, Berdett Cline, Fred Fesler of Aitkin, Minn. and Mrs. George Cline of Conesville, Iowa. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, C. E. Luce, assisted by Rev. Pugh, of Riverside, Iowa, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery one mile east of Hills.
