Born July 10, 1916, in Kirkwood, Illinois, she was the daughter of Walter and Flora Fleige Browse. She first married Guy Lehman. On February 14, 1947, she married Ralph J. Schmidt. He died in 1987. Read More	Miriam Schmidt, Miriam Jane Schmidt, 89, of Morning Sun, died Sunday afternoon, February 26, 2006, at Morning Sun Care Center. Born July 10, 1916, in Kirkwood, Illinois, she was the daughter of Walter and Flora Fleige Browse. She first married Guy Lehman. On February 14, 1947, she married Ralph J. Schmidt. He died in 1987. Mrs. Schmidt and her husband farmed near Morning Sun and raised chickens. She also did various domestic cleaning for others in the community. She also worked at Kresge's, Woolworth’s and Neisner’s, all in Burlington. She was a graduate of Biggsville High School in Biggsville, Illinois. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and Homemakers Club of Morning Sun. She served as a Sunday school teacher and a pianist at the church for many years. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Ann Goodwin of Trenton, Missouri; one stepson, Eugene Schmidt of Burlington; one sister, Helen Upton and Monmouth, Illinois; one niece and three nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun. The funeral for Mrs. Schmidt will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, with Hoyt Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun. A luncheon will follow the service at First United Presbyterian Church, where the family will visit with friends. Memorials have been established for Morning Sun Care Center and First United Presbyterian Church
