Miriam Louise Gere was born in Peru, Kansas on September 7, 1922, to Herb and Maude Gere. Miriam and her 12 siblings were raised in South Dakota where they shared many happy times. The family moved to Peshastin, WA in 1938, where she also met and married Windom Barnett on November 20, 1941. They raised six wonderful children and shared much laughter and love. Read More	Wenatchee World - Friday, January 14, 2005 On Wednesday, January 12, 2005, the Lord took our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother peacefully into His arms. Miriam Louise Gere was born in Peru, Kansas on September 7, 1922, to Herb and Maude Gere. Miriam and her 12 siblings were raised in South Dakota where they shared many happy times. The family moved to Peshastin, WA in 1938, where she also met and married Windom Barnett on November 20, 1941. They raised six wonderful children and shared much laughter and love. Miriam's home was always open to those in need of a home-cooked meal or a place to sleep. Her Sunday dinners and retelling of childhood stories will always be remembered by family and friends. Miriam had a wonderful sense of humor, often seen in practical jokes; her laughter will be greatly missed. She loved to read and write poetry and corresponded with many friends and family members throughout the years. Miriam loved playing games, much to her grandchildrens' delight. In a journal, she wrote "I think there was a special calling to teach little children- also to be in the nursery with the babies- to rock and sing to them about Jesus. This I did with each of my own children." Miriam prayed daily for all her loved ones and lived her life dedicated to the Lord. Miriam is survived by Windom, her husband of 63 years; her children (and spouses), Herb (Evey), Sharon (Ken), Daniel (Phyllis), Leland (Jeanie), Timothy (Alicia), and David (Anne); her twelve grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Shelly, Daniel, Jennifer, Doug, Jason, Kara, Tim, Thom, Lisa and Lindsay; and numerous great-grandchildren. Miriam is also survived by five siblings: Kenneth, Rodney, Hap, Ronald and Elvie; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Wenatchee Free Methodist Church, 1601 5th Street. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Conconully Cemetery. Arrangements by Telford's Chapel of the Valley.
