Miriam was born April 2, 1935, in Slagle, LA, to the late Andrew Jackson and Hazel Lea Wiley Sweat, and was called home October 22, 2012, in Alexandria, LA. Miriam was born April 2, 1935, in Slagle, LA, to the late Andrew Jackson and Hazel Lea Wiley Sweat, and was called home October 22, 2012, in Alexandria, LA. She always put her family and friends first. Miriam's legacy consists of strength, love and dignity in which she always portrayed. She believed her grandchildren were Angels and in her beloved eyes they could do "NO" wrong. Miriam strongly believed in her God and was devoted to serving him. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: Jimma Lea Vegas, Helen Doris Watterson, Donald Jeane Sweat, Dortha "Dot" Ann Statum and Frankie Louise Ray. Left to cherish Miriam's beautiful memories will be her beloved husband of 60 years; five sons and three daughters-in-law; two daughters and sons-in-law; two sisters and one brother-in-law; one brother-in-law; 28 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many wonderful friends. Services were under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home.
