Mrs. German, who was 91 years old, died on Sunday, July 5, 1998, at the Ritzville Life Care Center. She was born on Dec 12, 1906, in Walter, Russia, the daughter of Jacob and Katherine M. (Schoessler) Ils. She came to the US with her parents in 1912. They settled in Ritzville, and in 1917 they moved to a farm near Odessa. She attended Odessa area schools through the ninth grade. Mollie was confirmed in 1920 at St Matthew Church in Odessa by the Rev J. G. Eckhardt. On June 1, 1927, she married Joel Henry German at her parents' home. Together they lived on the German farm, which they later purchased. They raised two children, a daughter, Lois, and a son Tom. In 1957 they retired and turned over the operation of the farm to their son and moved to Ritzville. Her husband Joel preceded her in death in July 1969.... Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lois Phillips, in 1980...." Among the survivors were: 3 sisters, Marie Scrupps, Odessa; Lydia Gettman, Bellevue; and Allie Benzel, Ritzville; and one brother, Adam Ils, Everett. Interment was in Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.
