Description	:	Mollie Russell Martin, 81, of 373 River Rd., Stanley, was taken to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Mollie, a loving sister and aunt, was born on Dec. 29, 1929, and was the daughter of the late William and Elva Smelser Martin. She worked at Rockingham Poultry for 43 years until retiring in 1991. She was a member of Leake's Chapel Church of Brethren. Although she never had children of her own, after the death of her mother she became a second mother to her family. Mollie, a loving sister and aunt, was born on Dec. 29, 1929, and was the daughter of the late William and Elva Smelser Martin. She worked at Rockingham Poultry for 43 years until retiring in 1991. She was a member of Leake's Chapel Church of Brethren. Although she never had children of her own, after the death of her mother she became a second mother to her family. She is survived by two sisters, Nancy Blakemore of Stanley, and I.O. Henderson and husband Rondell of Stanley; two brothers, Thomas K. Martin and wife Carolyn of Stanley, and William Earl Martin of Stanley; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Martin of Stanley; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Emily McCoy and Gavin Henry, with whom she was very close. She was preceded in death by a brother, J.C. Martin. A funeral service was conducted on Saturday, May 14, at the Bradley Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Turner and the Rev. Eric Croft.
