Surviving Monroe was his wife, Clara; three daughters, Nora Belle (John) Soria, Deloris Mae (Jerry) Provorse, and Mary Ann (John) Blanton; one son, James Monroe (Sandy) Gasho, all of Washington State. Monroe had 11 brothers and sisters, 3 who died in infancy, and one who died age 25. Monroe was buried in Doe Bay Cemetery on Orcas Island, San Juan Co., WA where he had lived in West Sound. His death certificate lists his occupation as a farmer.
