A memorial graveside service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport with Randy Widener officiating. At his request, cremation was held. Widener, 61 of Bridgeport, Nebraska passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at his home. A memorial graveside service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport with Randy Widener officiating. At his request, cremation was held. Monte was born on December 16, 1950 in North Platte, Nebraska to Melvin and Hilda (Bentley) Widener. He attended school in Ogallala. He married Elizabeth Welsh on January 9, 1971 in Ogallala and to this union three sons were born, Michael, Marcus and Martin. Monte coached Little League Baseball and was on the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department and EMT of the Year. He also was a Boy Scout Leader. Monte was an over the road truck driver most of his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and cross word puzzles. Monte is survived by his sons Michael L. Widener and wife Amy, Marcus L. Widener and wife Holly both of Bridgeport and Martin L. Widener and special friend Lori Stromberg of Broadwater; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother Herbert Ray Widener and wife Judy of Bayard and sister Patricia Kay Lauderbaugh and husband John of North Richland Hills, TX and a host friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Hilda.
