Description	:	Mores Olester Elvik, age 91, of Midwest City, OK, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2008. Born April 5, 1917 to John Elvik and Anna Eidsnes Elvik on the family farm located 1 mi. S. & 1-1/2 mi. E. of Norway Center near Hudson in Lincoln County, SD. Mores' parents immigrated from Osterfjord, near Bergin, Norway. In 1920, the family moved from Hudson to a farm 5 mi. N. & 2 mi. Read More	Mores Olester Elvik, age 91, of Midwest City, OK, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2008. Born April 5, 1917 to John Elvik and Anna Eidsnes Elvik on the family farm located 1 mi. S. & 1-1/2 mi. E. of Norway Center near Hudson in Lincoln County, SD. Mores' parents immigrated from Osterfjord, near Bergin, Norway. In 1920, the family moved from Hudson to a farm 5 mi. N. & 2 mi. E. of Carthage, SD. Mores worked on the family farm and at many other jobs throughout North and South Dakota. He left school when he was in 8th grade, but he did attend a partial year of business school in 1936. In 1937 and 1938, he and his brother Conrad worked in Florida. He returned to Sioux City, IA area and married Elizabeth Fauth Smith on Dec. 16, 1939. Mores worked in Sioux City for Cudahy packing plant and as a molder at the Iowa Foundry. He also started his own successful business, Sioux Brass and Aluminum Foundry in 1947. After a divorce in 1953, he moved to Sioux Falls, SD. In 1967, Mores married Nina Broughton Boomgaarden. They moved from Sioux Falls to OK, then to AR and to Viborg, SD. Nina died May 24, 1987. Mores married Gunhild Stedje Castrodad in 1988 and they resided in Viborg. Gunhild died in Sept. 1994. In 2000, he moved to Midwest City, OK to be close to his family. He loved gardening, cards (especially playing cribbage with his grandchildren and great grandchildren), cooking, following the financial markets, ballroom dancing, fishing and hunting. He loved to see people at get-togethers and family reunions. He remembered nearly all the people he ever met. In younger days, he sang in the church choir in Carthage and with the Sons of Norway chorus in Sioux City. Mores was very proud of his Norwegian heritage and could speak and write Norwegian fluently. He was preceded in death by his parents sibilings, Conrad Elvik, Ralph Elvik, Mabel Wildo, Agnes Nygard, Elva Ulvan, Rachael Bergman and Bretha Elvik and step-son, Dale C. Smith. He is survived by siblings, Mildreth Benton, Phoenix, AZ John Elvik, Oldham, SD Grant Elvik, Sioux Falls, SD Ruth Tracy, Tacoma, WA. He is also survived by his 3 children: son Harlan and wife Ramona of Oklahoma City daughters Marlene and husband Gerald Beggin of Tacoma, WA Kristy Perry and husband David, OKC Janeen Goodin, OKC Toni Goodin, Midwest City Susan Her and husband Pheng, Des Moines, WA and great grandchildren: Mitchell and Jake Elvik, and Lauren and Blake Perry, OKC. A service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City, OK. Another service will be conducted on December 27, 2008 at 1:30 PM in Lennox, SD at the Dindot-Kluusmann Funeral Home, 408 S. Main Street, Lennox, SD with funeral services beginning at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 27, at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home in Lennox with burial in the Lennox Cemetery.
