Born in Merlin, Ontario he moved west with his family in 1906. They settled in the Ardenville District south of Fort Macleod were Gray attended school. Upon his graduation he attended S.A.I.T. and graduated as a Auto mechanic. He returned to Fort Macleod to work at the terminal garage. He married Mattie Flemming in Medicine Hat March 26th; 1925. They moved west of Fort Macleod at a farm at Stowe until 1931 when they moved to the family farm south of Fort Macleod and resided there until moving into Fort Macleod in 1972. He continued to farm until 1982. Grandpa Chester was a friend to all who knew him and enjoyed working with his neighbors, the Hutterite people and the native people. His wife, Mattie, predeceased him on January 9th, 1985. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs Harvey (Kaye) Bourassa of Fort Macleod and Mrs. Jon (Valena) Thibert of Sidney, B.C.; five grandchildren. Predeceased by one granddaughter Jeanette Renee Bourassa in 1964 and one brother, Vernon Charles in August of 1898.
