Description	:	Morris Ellis I, a Quaker, married Sarah Coulston on 26 Feb 1737 in Berks Co., PA. Sarah Coulston was the daughter of the Quakers William Coulston and Anne Foulke. Between 1738 and 1753 they had 7 children they named: John, Amos, William, Jane, William, Morris and Thomas Ellis. On 30 Dec 1756 Rebekah Colston chared John Ellis, son of Morris Ellis, with being the father of an illegitmate child which she hath delivered. Morris Ellis responds that "I am the wretched man that have done the thing and I believe my son to be clear." The Old Quaker Cemetery is now called the Arden United Methodist Church & Cemetery. No markers exist for any Ellis family members. *** Death Date *** Note in April 2014 from his descendant and family genealogist, John Ellis. Everybody lists the date of death of Morris Ellis (1715-1769) as 1761. However, I would call your attention to the following entry in William Wade Hinshaw, Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy (Baltimore, Maryland: Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1993), Volume VI - Virginia, p. 489: “Morris [ELLIS], rocf [received on certificate from], Exeter MM. - for self, w Sarah & 2 sons, Morris & Thos.; also Adah Yarnal, (dt. [daughter] of Elizabeth) a young woman under their care, 24-6-1769, dated 18-4-1769.” For this reason, I believe that Morris Ellis (1715-1769) died sometime after June 24, 1769. A few suggest he died as late as 1791.
