Description	:	Morris Lee Grubbs, 85, of Scottsville, died on August 7, 2014, at Greenview Hospital. He was born December 22, 1928, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to the late Ezma Morgan Grubbs and Harold Porter Grubbs. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Manuel Porter Grubbs, and a sister, Thelma Grubbs, and stepmother, Mozelle Dalton Grubbs. He was born December 22, 1928, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to the late Ezma Morgan Grubbs and Harold Porter Grubbs. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Manuel Porter Grubbs, and a sister, Thelma Grubbs, and stepmother, Mozelle Dalton Grubbs. He graduated from Scottsville High School in 1946 and worked in the gasoline business with his father for four years. He also served in the US Air Force from 1951-1955 and was stationed in Germany. He returned to Scottsville in 1955 and worked at Kentucky State Bank. He owned and operated a farm in Halifax with his brother-in-law, John Coleman Jackson. In 1961, he became one of the first employees of Scotscraft. He attended Western Kentucky University and Lindsey Wilson College. In 1966 he opened Grubbs Bookkeeping Service and continued his business there until his retirement in 2009. His office was active in supporting the American Private Enterprise System, the Allen County School System, Youth, Inc., Center for Courageous Kids, and various other organizations. He was always willing to help better his community. He once said “no one has been treated better by this community than I have.” He served as City Finance Office for 21 years. He also served on the Allen County Scottsville Industrial Development Authority and was instrumental in securing various industries for the city of Scottsville and Allen County. He was a past president of Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, the Jaycees, and served as Vice President and Secretary of the Kentucky Jaycees. He was a past commander of Halfrey Dalton VFW Post 5712, a master mason of Graham Lodge, a Kentucky Colonel, and the 2010 Scottsville Hometown Hero. He was a member of the Scottsville Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member. He was also the youngest man ever ordained as deacon of his church. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sherry Jackson Grubbs; a daughter, Shawn Shipley and her husband Danny of Scottsville; three grandchildren, Darren Shipley and his wife Mary of Hendersonville, Tennessee; Deanna Catlett and her husband David of Louisville, Kentucky; Morgan Shipley of Bowling Green, Kentucky; four great grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth Shipley and Sarah and Leah Catlett; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, at Scottsville Baptist Church. Funeral service will be Sunday, August 10, at 4 p.m. at Scottsville Baptist Church with burial to follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery. T.W. Crow and Son Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Music Ministry of Scottsville Baptist Church.
