Description	:	Morris Samuel Meikle, 92, of Norfolk died Monday, June 4, 2012, at Pierce Manor. Morris was born July 12, 1919, at Creighton to Samuel and Josephine (VanKirk) Meikle. Morris attended Salem School through the eighth grade. He was married to Ella Helen Kumm Aug. 27, 1942, at the Lutheran parsonage, Neligh, NE. Morris served in the Army from Oct. 5, 1942, through Sept. 17, 1943, during World War II, with an honorable discharge. Read More	Morris Samuel Meikle, 92, of Norfolk died Monday, June 4, 2012, at Pierce Manor. Morris was born July 12, 1919, at Creighton to Samuel and Josephine (VanKirk) Meikle. Morris attended Salem School through the eighth grade. He was married to Ella Helen Kumm Aug. 27, 1942, at the Lutheran parsonage, Neligh, NE. Morris served in the Army from Oct. 5, 1942, through Sept. 17, 1943, during World War II, with an honorable discharge. Morris was foreman for the Knox County tree planting crew with the Soil Conservation District for 18 years. Also during that time he drove a bus for Neal's Bus Service in Creighton, NE. Morris worked as a carpenter and repairman for many years in Creighton and throughout his life. He was known for fixing older spring wind clocks and woodworking projects. He retired in 1985, and they moved to Norfolk, NE. in 1990. Morris and Ella were married 59 years. He had been at the Homestead Assisted Living since January 2009 and Pierce Manor since April 2012. Survivors are: sons, Kenneth M. and wife Linda Meikle of Norfolk, NE., Terry A.and wife Karen Meikle of Norfolk, NE.; granddaughters, Lori Rector of Norfolk, NE., Alisha and husband Zach Fisher of Norfolk, NE.; great-grandchildren, Nikita Rector, Natasha Rector, Shelby Fisher, Tyson Fisher and Ava Fisher. Morris was preceded in death parents, wife Ella Helen Meikie in 2001, sister, Wilma Papp. Inurnment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Creighton, NE.
