Description	:	When he was 8 years old, he accompanied his parents, Alanson and Hannah (Hemmingway) Bean to Boston, Mass. where they lived for 5 years. The father was a sailor and followed the sea but the after removing themselves west to Carroll County, Il he engaged in farming. Moses was a youth of 18 when coming to Lanark, Carroll Co, Il in 1858. After his discharge in 1863 he went to Clinton, IA for 7 years and then back to Bellevue where he opened a fish market. O July 4, 1867 he was married to Miss Melvina M. Cook. They had one son, Merrill E. who was a telegraph operator at Minneapolis, Mn. Merrill E and his wife, Grace F. lived at Columbia Heights, Anoka County, MN in 1930. Merrill died in Anoka Co. on Jan 21, 1937. His father, Alanson went back east to visit and died there. Only his mother is buried in Iowa.
