The contributor believes this information, stated by Mottie himself, is more reliable than information stated by someone else and recorded on his death certificate after his death. Note 2. The nearest Bethel Church is Bethel United Methodist, about 8 miles from Andrews toward Georgetown. There is no tombstone for Mottie in that cemetery, and there is no known connection between Mottie and Bethel UM Church. Note 3. Mottie's parents are buried in Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Olanta, Florence County, SC. There is no tombstone for Mottie in that cemetery. Note 4. Mottie's wife was buried in Piney Forest Cemetery, about 4 miles north of Andrews, 14 years after Mottie's death. Note 5. Burgess has performed burials in several cemeteries named Bethel. Note 6. Farm was a short distance from Piney Forest Cemetery family 99: Mottie McGee, head; Annie; Chidren, Alton, Beasley, Lea E., Annie D., Carol (This record places Mottie McGee near Piney Forest Cemetery in the last census before his death. He was a tenant farmer, i.e., sharecroper.) ------------ Mottie's son James Beasley McGee was buried in Piney Forest Cemetery in 1935. Mottie's death certificate lists place Mingo, Williamsburg County. Mingo is just across the county line from Piney Forest Cemetery in Georgetown County. ------------ C C Burgess Funeral Home in Kingstree was a far distance from the eastern edge of Williamsburg County and Piney Forest Cemetery. The informant, Roger Lambert, believes that Bethel as place of burial on Mottie's death certificate is erroneous and that he is buried in Piney Forest Cemetery where a son had been buried in 1935, his widow was buried in 1953, and several other children were subsequently buried. He will change this memorial to state that Mottie is buried in a different cemetery if anyone can provide convincing proof. The contributor was born in Mingo within sight of Piney Forest Cemetery and is familiar with the farm that belonged to Harris Ethridge. ------------
