Alvina Ovidia Johnson, the daughter of Oscar and Agnes (Moen) Johnson, was born December 18, 1916, in Roslyn, South Dakota. She grew up on the family farm. Alvina was baptized and confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church in rural Roslyn. She graduated from Webster High School and obtained her teaching certificate from Northern State in Aberdeen, SD. On June 22, 1941, Miss Alvina Ovidia Johnson was united in marriage with Mr. Albin Clarence Dalager at the Saron Lutheran Church. The couple raised their children on the family farm. Alvina taught elementary school children in local one and two room schools. She was very active and had many leadership roles at the Tabor Lutheran Church in Webster, South Dakota. Also, she helped out with 4-H activities. The couple moved to Norfolk in 2003. Her hobbies included sewing, fine needlework and quilting. Mrs. Dalager is survived by: …her children, ……John (Susan) Dalager, ……Janice (John) Schlomer, ……Andrew (Marcia) Dalager, ……Susan (Vic) Lee, and ……Mary Cwach; …13 grandchildren and …28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: …her beloved husband of more than 68 years, ……Albin Clarence Dalager, …twin infant sons, …granddaughter, ……Lisa Schlomer - Schneider, …grandson, ……Jason Dalager, …great-granddaughter, ……Linden Grace Schlomer, …sisters, ……Hilda, Gladys, Lydia and Lorraine and …son-in-law Gary Cwach. Visitation for family and friends of Mrs. Dalager was held from 9:30 a.m. until the time the Funeral Services at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The Reverend Mark Reichert officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
