Description	:	Dorothy M. Eakins, 99, of Ottumwa, died at 2:55 p.m. February 26, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society- Ottumwa. She was born March 18, 1917 near Sigourney to Nicholas and Josephine Snakenburg Wallerich. She married H. Glen Eakins on October 1, 1938 and he preceded her death on February 19, 2003. Dorothy was a homemaker, a gardener; she made many quilts and lap covers and gave all to family and friends. She had been a member of Ottumwa Baptist Temple where she taught Sunday school for 39 years. Dorothy also taught and helped in summer Bible Time. Read More	Dorothy M. Surviving are her sons, Larry (Patricia) Eakins and Edward (Denise) Eakins, both of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren, Scott Eakins, Lisa (Scott) McCoy, Debbie Mitra, Phyllis (Bob) Thompson; 5 great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua McCoy, Lindsey and Brandon Thompson, and Sophie Mitra. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Hazel I. Eastburn and Grace M. Gilliland. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Travis Decker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ottumwa Baptist Temple or to the family.
