Carr, was born in Geary, province of New Brunswick, Canada, on the 23rd of February, 1835, being the third of 13 children of William and Jane Carr. She was married to Chas. A. Phillips of the same place on the 3rd of November, 1853. Carr, was born in Geary, province of New Brunswick, Canada, on the 23rd of February, 1835, being the third of 13 children of William and Jane Carr. She was married to Chas. A. Phillips of the same place on the 3rd of November, 1853. To this union were born 10 children, 7 sons and 3 daughters, viz: John L. of Pilger, Nebr., Thomas B. and Frank L. of Laurel, Nebr., Robert D. of Carson, Iowa and Chas. W. and Sherman of Lyons, Nebr., J. W. ? South Dakota, Lillian L. Peterson, Carroll, Nebr., Elizabeth Peterson of Bayard, Nebr., and Alice Good who preceded her mother to the great beyond a short time ago, all of this large family are left to mourn her departure except Mrs. Good. Mrs. Phillips came with her family to Illinois in 1865, from there to Iowa in 1882 and then to Lyons, Nebr., in 1895 where she departed this life July 18, 1915, making her 80 years, 4 months, and 25 days of age. Mrs. Phillips joined the Free-Will Baptist church when a young girl and later together with her husband united with the Methodist Episcopal church. As such she has ever lived a consisten Christian life, dying in the triumph of a living faith going on to join the church triumphant and to be with Christ at hom. The funeral was held from the M. E. Church Tuesday p.m. Rev. Buell of Wayne assisted by Rev. Clark of the Presbyterian church and Rev. Ray of the Methodist church, officiating. The six sons of the deceased were pall bearers. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and a large concourse of friends and neighbors filled the church. The remains were laid to rest in the Lyons Cemetery. Sleep on dear cherished one, sleep on ,folded in Jesus' loving arms, till Christ shall say the victory's won, till Gabriel's trumpet the world alarms.
