In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Garnett Hoskins Harvey, and her sister, Sandra McCraw Lewis. Read More	Gerry McCraw Harvey July 30, 1937 - December 29, 2017 Gerry McCraw Harvey, 80, of Glen Allen and Lowesville, Virginia, died on December 29, 2017, in Lowesville. Born on July 30, 1937 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Lyle McCraw and Bertha Lawhorne McCraw of Madison Heights. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Garnett Hoskins Harvey, and her sister, Sandra McCraw Lewis. Gerry was a graduate of Madison Heights High School and Phillips Business College, and also attended Lynchburg College. Her work experience included First Baptist Church of Lynchburg, Sweet Briar College, and the Defense Communication Agency in Arlington. Following her marriage in 1963, Gerry lived in Arlington for 40 years before moving to Glen Allen in 2003. After her husband suffered a serious illness in 1999, she lovingly cared for him until his death in 2008. Gerry was very dedicated and devoted to others and volunteered tirelessly in numerous church, school and community organizations. She led an active and fulfilling life, having countless celebrations with family, friends, and neighbors. She enjoyed working on the Harvey, McCraw, and Morris family histories. She was a longtime faithful member of Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church. After moving to Glen Allen, she joined Mount Vernon Baptist Church. At the time of her death, she was an active member of Piney River Baptist Church in Lowesville, near the Harvey family farm. Gerry leaves to cherish her memory three children, Gill Harvey Wimbish (Randy) of Richmond, Gary L. Harvey (Katie) of Arlington, and Ginger Harvey Huffman (Troy) of Richmond, one brother, Hale A. “Buddy” McCraw (Maxine) of Bedford, and one sister-in-law, Jean Harvey Gardner of Madison Heights. She was also the loving Memaw of seven grandchildren, Carlyle R. “Cary” Wimbish, IV, Grayson Harvey Wimbish, Hampton Massie Wimbish, Leighton Grace Huffman and Addison Elizabeth Huffman, all of Richmond, and Alyson Brooke Harvey and Nathan Thomas Harvey of Arlington. She also leaves behind many other treasured family members and friends. The family will receive friends at Piney River Baptist Church on Thursday, January 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A service celebrating Gerry’s life will be held on Friday, January 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Piney River Baptist Church, 1190 Woodson Road, Roseland, Virginia 22967, with burial immediately following in the Harvey family cemetery. A lunch reception will be held in the church fellowship hall after the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in her memory to Piney River Baptist Church.
