Description	:	Yesterday, at 11 o'clock, occurred the death of Mrs. F. L. Ball, after a lingering illness of several months, from the dread scourge, consumption. Mrs. Ball was born in Cambridge, Illinois, April 5, 1858, and was at her death 30 years and 24 days old. Her childhood and girlhood years were spent in Cambridge, and in 1879 she married one of Abilene's most prominent citizens, F. L. Ball, and came here to live immediately after the wedding. Read More	Yesterday, at 11 o'clock, occurred the death of Mrs. F. L. Ball, after a lingering illness of several months, from the dread scourge, consumption. Mrs. Ball was born in Cambridge, Illinois, April 5, 1858, and was at her death 30 years and 24 days old. Her childhood and girlhood years were spent in Cambridge, and in 1879 she married one of Abilene's most prominent citizens, F. L. Ball, and came here to live immediately after the wedding. Since that time they have been residents of the city and are well known throughout the vicinity. Two lovely daughters have been born to them. For four or five years Mrs. Ball has been unwell and for a month has not been expected to live from day to day. Yesterday morning she passed quietly away unterrified by the the thought of death. All arrangements had been made by her for the funeral and for the disposition of trinkets, etc., to her friends. This afternoon at 4 o'clock the funeral services were held at the home, on Cottage avenue. Rev. Dr. McKeehan preached the sermon; the interment took place in the Abilene cemetery. Mrs. Ball had hosts of firm friends who loved her not alone for her personal graces but for her noble christian character. Two sisters in Iowa and a brother in California survive her. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved husband and motherless daughters, as do the hundreds of others in Abilene who knew and mourn the lost one. (Abilene Weekley Reflector, May 3, 1888)
