Description	:	On November 13, 1884, Emma "Mary Emily" Schneider married Hugh George Gunn. Dave Nelles, father of Floyd Nelles of Scotland, SD, reported to the people that when they went to the wedding of Hugh and Emma, baby nephew George Schneider's (Betsy Schneider (born Gunn) son; came toddling right along with them down the aisle. Hugh George also by this time had a homestead near the one which had been Betsy's and was near their parents. Read More	On November 13, 1884, Emma "Mary Emily" Schneider married Hugh George Gunn. After Hugh George and Emma's marriage, they traded Emma's homestead for Betsy's so they each had 320 acres of adjoining land, their becoming the Hugh George Gunn family home. Thus Huge George and Emma resided with the toddler, George Schneider, near his grandparents. All the children were born on the Farm. 1st child was stillborn. It seemed that General Charles T. Campbell thought there should be a stage route for mail from Yankton and that a post office should be established. He wanted to call the place Gunnville, but the family refused their permission. The General swore and said: "We will call it Scotland, then!" and Scotland it was and Scotland it is. The Gunns have said to thought that name was much more fitting since three other families located there were of Scottish derivation, like the Gunns. The names of those who were on the ground at the time when the name was incorporated was none other than Mrs. Hugh Gunn (Mary Emily).
