Mrs. Mary Minnie Kerr, née Hank, was born in Louisa county, Iowa, on September 22, 1867, and passed away on Sunday morning, May 17, 1925, at about 5:00 o'clock. She had reached the age of 57 years, 7 months, and 25 days. Mrs. Kerr spent practically all of her life in Louisa county. In 1893, on April 22, she was married to Linsley T. Kerr. She was one of three sisters who married three brothers. Eight children were born to this union. Two boys, Ralph and Clonie were taken by spinal meningitis in the spring of 1908. The children who survive are: Albert T., of Oakville Mrs. Hazel M. Van Etten, of Mediapolis; Walter W., and Mrs. Mildred Peterson, of Burlington; and Edgar and Rebecca at home. These with the husband mourn the loss of a faithful wife and devoted mother. Since the loving wife and mother has been called to the great beyond, the home has been left lonely and sad. She was a good woman, loved and revered by her children, respected by all who knew her. Besides husband and children she leaves five brothers and one sister Thomas and Albert Hank, of Versailles, Missouri, John, William and Henry of Wapello, Iowa, and Mrs. I. G. Kerr of Morning Sun. Seven grandchildren also survive. On Saturday afternoon she was in Morning Sun on business. On he way home with her husband she suffered a severe stroke, following one she had several years ago. She was taken home safely, medical attention was provided and everything possible was done for her. She lingered through the night and passed away at sunrise on the Sabbath day. How wonderful to wake up on the Lord's day to heaven's eternal joys. Mrs. Kerr had during her life come to accept Jesus Christ and while living at Morning Sun had connected herself with the Methodist church. The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon conducted by Reverend H. W. Munster. A brief service at the home at 2:00 and a second service at the Methodist church at 2:30.
