Description	:	Muriel Ennis Butler BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. Muriel Ennis Butler, 95, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, from Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 12, 1914, in Bassano Alberta, Canada, to the late William John and Florence Zilla Ennis Butler. She was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Detroit, Rhode Island State University, and Providence Barrington Bible College. Muriel Ennis Butler, 95, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, from Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 12, 1914, in Bassano Alberta, Canada, to the late William John and Florence Zilla Ennis Butler. She was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Detroit, Rhode Island State University, and Providence Barrington Bible College. She received her masters degree in supervision from East Tennessee State University. Miss Butler taught school in Rhode Island, Virginia, and Tennessee. She was the director of food services in the Bristol Tennessee School System for 35 years. She was president of the East Tennessee School Food Service Association and the Tennessee School Food Service Association. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bristol Virginia, where she taught adult Sunday school classes for over 50 years. She served on the missions and Christian education committees and as director of drama. She served on the Virginia Baptist General Board and represented First Baptist Church on the Lebanon Baptist Association Board. After retirement from her food service career, Miss Butler served overseas under the Southern Baptist International Mission Board in Rubio, Venezuela, where she taught English in Christianson Academy. Her service also included teaching the More language in Burkina Faso, West Africa. She also served in evangelism in Concepcion, Chile. She served as president of the Women's Auxiliary of the Haven of Rest Rescue Mission in Bristol and president of the executive board of the mission. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Blountville, in later years. There she participated in the Senior Adult and Myra Fieldon Circle activities and ministries. She was a member of the Christian Homemakers Sunday School Class in which she was an assistant teacher. She is survived by a daughter in the Lord, Barbara Watson of Blountville; special cousins, Emma Neff of Mystic, Conn., Hamilton Benn of Coventry, R.I., and Erastus Benn of Bradford, R.I.; also cousins in Watertown, N.Y. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Thursday evening, Feb. 11, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Blountville. The funeral service will follow at 7 o'clock with Dr. Clay Austin officiating. Burial will be in Elmgrove Cemetery, North Kingstown, R.I. Pallbearers will be George Bell, Tyler Cross, Bob Gose, Bill Harness, Pete Perry, Ernie Sprouse, and Mark Young. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of First Baptist Church of Blountville. The family would like to extend special thanks to the physicians and staff of ETSU Family Physicians and the staff of the 4 west floor of Bristol Regional Medical Center for their dedication to Muriel's care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 587, Blountville, TN 37617.
