Aged only 36 she was the daughter of the late Mr. Colin Cowan, and Mrs. A. E. Cowan, of Waugh Street, Port Macquarie, and was born at Kendall. Her husband, who survives, was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hackenberg, of West Kempsey. The funeral left All Saints' Catholic Church, Kempsey, on Tuesday, September 19, for the West Kempsey cemetery under the conduct of Messrs. Harry H. and Jos. T. Walker. Rev. Father McEvoy officiated at the service in the Church and again at the graveside. The Manning River Times and Advocate for the Northern Coast Districts of New South Wales, Wed 4 Oct 1950 Page 7 Mrs. Muriel Hackenberg The many relatives and friends of Mrs. Muriel Evelyn Hackenberg, wife of Mr. Arthur John Hackenberg, of Elbow-street, West Kempsey, were deeply shocked to hear of her sudden passing in hospital in Sydney on Saturday evening. Aged 36 years the deceased lady was a member of the well known Cowan family, of Kendall, and had resided in Kempsey for a number of years. Much deep sympathy is extended to her sorrowing husband and five year old daughter in their sad bereavement. The funeral, under conduct of Messrs. Harry B and Jos. T. Walker, took place to West Kempsey Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday, the Rev. Father McEvoy officiating at a service in All Saints' Church and at the graveside.
