Description	:	Muriel Frances Wintrode, loving wife of Maurice Charles Wintrode, passed peacefully on Palm Sunday, April 1, 2012 wrapped in the love and comfort of her family. Muriel was born on April 26, 1925 in Hoboken, New Jersey, to loving parents Francis and Catherine Jackson, and brothers, Bernard and Frank. Soon after the family moved to Bay Ridge, NY, where Muriel was awarded a full scholarship to Bishop McDonald High School after graduating first in her class from St. Micheal's Parish School. She graduated from high school at the top of her class and attended St. John's University in New York.... Read More	Muriel Frances Wintrode, loving wife of Maurice Charles Wintrode, passed peacefully on Palm Sunday, April 1, 2012 wrapped in the love and comfort of her family. Muriel was born on April 26, 1925 in Hoboken, New Jersey, to loving parents Francis and Catherine Jackson, and brothers, Bernard and Frank. Soon after the family moved to Bay Ridge, NY, where Muriel was awarded a full scholarship to Bishop McDonald High School after graduating first in her class from St. Micheal's Parish School. She graduated from high school at the top of her class and attended St. John's University in New York. Muriel was employed by Union Carbide as an executive assistant working on classified government projects. During the war, Muriel supported the troops by volunteering her time at the Brooklyn USO. It was at a USO Canteen Dance that she met her soulmate, Maurice Wintrode. Muriel and Maurice married in 1950 and moved to Connecticut where they raised four wonderful children. They, in turn, gave them nine beautiful grandchildren. Muriel was very active in the social, educational and spiritual activities of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and Parish. When her children were young she led scouting troops, bazaars and bake sales. Muriel was a devoted member of the St. Thomas Woman's Club working tirelessly at their many events since 1962. Twenty years ago when Muriel and several other members of the Woman's Club observed that the elder members lacked attendance at their funerals, they founded the Woman's Club Honor Guard so that all of their members would be graciously remembered as they left this life. Over the years, Muriel quietly performed many charitable acts of kindness. Muriel leaves her beloved husband Maurice, her four loving children Barbara Morris of Northborough, MA, Janice Conboy of Tewksbury, NJ, Carol Maksimow of Southbury, CT, and Paul Wintrode of Weston, FL. As well as her adoring grandchildren: Steven, Michael, and Matthew Morris, Richard and Morgan Landy, Alexandra and Christine Maksimow, and Lucas and Eric Wintrode. Burial will be at the St. Christina Catholic Cemetery, Parker, South Dakota, Fr. Hal Barber, officiant.
