Muriel Luella (Porter) Postma was born on December 20, 1935 to Walter and Hazel (McConnell) Porter in Geddes, SD. She graduated from Platte High School in 1954 and was united in marriage to Richard Postma at the Olive Presbyterian Church in Platte on June 17, 1956. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Platte and served in the RCWM. Mert enjoyed baking, reading books, shopping trips with friends, crocheting, visiting over coffee and being outside, particularly when gardening. She was very caring and always ready to lend a hand if someone was sick or in need. Mert especially loved to spend time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Mert was preceded in death by: her parents, Walter and Hazel Porter; three sisters: Ida Viola (infant), Valda and Walter Drake and Loretta and Eddie King; two brothers: Richard Porter and Raymond Porter; and a brother-in-law, Louis Thomson.
