Description	:	Muriel Foutch was born Dec. 28, 1948 to Wayne A. and Ethel J. (Ingham) Foutch. She was only 44, nearly 45, when she died of cancer early Sunday morning, Dec. 18, 1993. "Mert", as most called her, graduated from Waverly High School in 1967, then attended Hawkeye Institute of Technology in office training, graduating in 1969. Mert worked for Kroblin Trucking Company in Waterloo until 1977. She married Craig K. Austin on Nov. 23, 1974 at First Baptist Church in Waverly. Mert worked for Kroblin Trucking Company in Waterloo until 1977. She married Craig K. Austin on Nov. 23, 1974 at First Baptist Church in Waverly. They lived in Waverly and raised their two children, Stephanie and Shane there. In 1978 Mert began working for Waverly Law Enforcement Center as Chief of Police Secretary. Ill health forced her to retire in August of 1993. Muriel was a member of First Baptist Church and Beta Sigma Phi International women's sorority in Waverly. She is survived by her husband; children who are both at home; father, Wayne of Waverly; step-mother, Avonelle Foutch, of Waverly; brother, Gary "Skip" Foutch of Highland, IN; brother Howard Foutch of Cedar Falls; sister-in-law, Karen Foutch of Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel, in 1989 and one brother, Duane, in 1992. Funeral was held Tues., Dec. 21 at First Baptist Church with Pastor, Brian L. Wilkins and Pastor Jeff Bowen officiating. Burial was in Harlington Cemetery. Bremer County Independent; 21 Dec 1993; Tues.
