TAYLOR, MYRA HARRELL, 92 Myra Harrell Taylor left this earthly world for her new home in Heaven on January 11, 2016. She was 92 years old. Myra was born on October 17, 1923 to parents Herman Luther Harrell and Annie Barry Harrell on their farm near Santa Fe Florida. She attended school in the small town of Santa Fe until the 5th grade and then started attending school in Alachua. In June 1942, Myra married Russell Thomas Taylor Jr. of Worthington Springs, Florida. Russell was in the army and stationed at Fort Benning in Columbus Georgia. She moved to Columbus for about a year, until her husband left overseas during WWII. Her stay in Columbus was the only time during her life that she lived anywhere besides the Alachua area. Myra moved back home to live with her parents and helped them work their 80 acre farm. During this time, she saved money and purchased 60 acres that adjoined her parent's property. When Russell returned from WWII they made their home on the farm. He found employment at Copeland Sausage Company, in Alachua and she continued to farm with her parents. She grew vegetables, tobacco and had a small herd of cows and hogs. In addition to the farm, Myra also held a couple of jobs. She was a substitute school bus driver and worked as a substitute mail carrier at the Alachua Post office from 1964-1975. She did both of these jobs part time as her true love and passion was farming. Myra will be remembered as a strong woman that always spoke her mind. She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death is: her parents, Herman Luther and Annie Barry Harrell; husband, Russell Thomas Taylor Jr.; sisters, Doris Mildred Harrell, Gladys Bryan and Camilla (Millie) Moulden; brothers J.W. Harrell and Aubrey Luther Harrell; granddaughter, Sharyn Leigh Taylor. Left to remember her are daughters, Norma Jean Taylor Horton of Bradenton, Florida and Helen Taylor Craft (Lonnie) of Alachua, Florida; sons, Russell Thomas (Tommy) Taylor III of Alachua, Florida and Edmond Franklin (Frank) Taylor (Linda) of Macclenny, Florida; 9 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Our extended family members are Betty Siquerios Cobos and her family who Myra considered her grandchildren and Villa Vinzant Williams, Close lifelong friend who Myra considered as her sister. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Santa Fe Baptist Church (7505 North West County Road 236 Santa Fe, Florida). Family visitation will be at 11:30 am-1pm and the funeral service will be at 1pm. Burial will immediately follow at New Hope Church Cemetery.
