Powell, Paxton businessman and resident of this community for the past fifty years. Rev. Roland Brammeier, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in the family lot at the Paxton Cemetery under direction of the Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala. Mr. Powell passed away unexpectedly early Thursday while enroute from his home here to seek medical aid at North Platte. He had suffered a heart seizure earlier this year. After spending sometime in the hospital he seemed to be a making a normal recovery. Coming to this community in 1911 as a six year old, Mr. Powell had spent his entire active lifetime here. He grew to manhood on the family farm southeast of town and in 1935 moved to Paxton, where he has since operated a service station and engaged in long distance livestock hauling. His interest in the welfare of the community was manifest in his service as chairman of the Paxton Board of Village Trustees for two of the four years he served on the board. He was past president of the Paxton Loins club and has served may other positions of community trust. For the past several years he has served as weighmaster at the Ogallala Livestock Commission Co. He was easy and pleasant to meet and enjoyed an unusually wide circle of friends throughout the state. His apparent ability to operate without malice endeared him to all of those with whom he worked. He was predominately a good individual, one who will be difficult to replace. Added by Dori 47796684.
