She was born Apr. 6, 1925, in Ottumwa, IA, the daughter of John and Emma Clifton Kerr. She married Daniel Lawlor on Oct. 27, 1947, in Davenport, IA, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 2011. She is survived by three daughters, Maria Nagle of Bloomington, IL, and Mary Lawlor and Teresa (Jay) Robinson, both of Jacksonville; one son, Joseph Lawlor of Davenport; five grandchildren, Brad (Angel) Robinson, Bruce (Lauren) Lawlor, Tiffney Lawlor (Shawn Morthole), Tyler Robinson and Danny Robinson; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; two sisters, Lucille Baldridge of Chillicothe, IL, and Beverly Carroll of Canton, MO; two sisters-in-law, Rita Smith of Davenport and Sister Kathryn Lawlor of Dubuque, IA; and one brother-in-law, John (Darlene) Lawlor of Davenport. She was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Paul Lawlor; and four sisters, Beulah Kerr, Darlene Kerr, Arlene Simpson and Claudine Schlager. Mrs. Lawlor was a home care worker with Visiting Nurses in the Quad Cities before becoming a stay-at-home mother to raise her family. During World War II she worked in a munitions plant in Burlington, IA, and at the Rock Island (IL) Armory. She was a devoted Christian, and a member of First Christian Church in Jacksonville. She was also a member of the Women’s Home League at the Salvation Army. Being an advocate for adoption, her five children were all adopted from different backgrounds and hardships. Myrlyn was a loving person, and cared for everyone. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at a later date at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Big Rock, IA. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army. Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.
