Description	:	Myrna Lee (Burchett) Simmerman was born on August 14, 1938 and passed away on February 27, 2021 at the age of 82. On November 5, 1954, she married George Simmerman and together they raised five children who grew up living on the same farm south of Murray where Myrna was raised. Myrna was known for her open house and hospitality. Children were her passion and over the years, she provided a safe shelter for many children and families. Read More	Myrna Lee (Burchett) Simmerman was born on August 14, 1938 and passed away on February 27, 2021 at the age of 82. On November 5, 1954, she married George Simmerman and together they raised five children who grew up living on the same farm south of Murray where Myrna was raised. Myrna was known for her open house and hospitality. Children were her passion and over the years, she provided a safe shelter for many children and families. She was also known to take in a few stray animals along the way. Myrna had a caring soul for anyone she met. She also had a way of making you feel comfortable in her presence. When George and Myrna's children started to leave home, they became foster parents. They later adopted five boys and raised three more alongside them, not counting the many that came before and after. During this time, she provided in home daycare for many families. Surviving Myrna is her sister Kay Gamble of Pleasant Hill. Her children, Tony (Vicki) Simmerman, Kelly (Tammy) Simmerman, Tracy Simmerman, Carla (Wes) Cook, Kansas City, MO; Jodee (Mike) Eckels, Dewayne (Amy) Simmerman, Donnie Simmerman, Daniel (Shanna) Simmerman, Dennis Simmerman, Gabe (Jessica) Simmerman. Special families, Scott, Tristan, Richard Funk, and Joe and Tom Werner. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and three nieces. Preceding her in death was her husband George in 2019, her parents Carl and Wynona Burchett, parents in law George and Arlene Simmerman, granddaughter Vicki Decker and brother-in-law Merlin Gamble. There will be no services for Myrna. A memorial benefiting children will be established in her name at a later date.
