Description	:	Miss Myrna Beltman, age 79, of Alton, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, April 12, at 10:30 am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Dr. C. Orville Kool will officiate. Interment will follow at the Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton. Visitation with the family present will be the hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Myrna Mae was born on December 18, 1931, at Alton, the daughter of Gerrit and Mildred (Ruisch) Beltman. She was raised at Alton and attended Northwestern College in Orange City. She was then employed at the Northwestern State Bank in Orange City and at a bank in Sioux City. In 1958, she moved to the Los Angeles, California, area, where she was a manager in the University of California Brain Research Institute. In 1985, Myrna returned to Alton, along with her cousin, Judy, and Judy's mother. In the summer of 2003, she became a resident of Happy Siesta. She was a member of the Park Hills Reformed Church in California, and worshipped through "The Hour of Power" on television. She was also involved with the John Douglas French Foundation in California. Miss Beltman enjoyed woodworking and camping. She traveled the United States in a motor home. Survivors include a sister, Frances De Jong, and a brother and his wife, Orville and Marge Beltman, all of Orange City; a special cousin, Judith Beltman, of Alton; and nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Arlene and Bert Gesink; a brother-in-law, Ray De Jong; and a sister-in-law, Edna Beltman.
