Born in Spartanburg, she was the widow of the late James David Barnes and daughter of the late Nathan and Lela West Brady. Mrs. Barnes retired from Lyman Finishing Plant and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. "Ba", as she was affectionately called by her family, loved the Lord. She loved her family. Read More	Gaffney, S.C. - Myrtle Brady Barnes, 92, of 2202 Overbrook Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at her residence. Born in Spartanburg, she was the widow of the late James David Barnes and daughter of the late Nathan and Lela West Brady. Mrs. Barnes retired from Lyman Finishing Plant and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. "Ba", as she was affectionately called by her family, loved the Lord. She loved her family. She was the survivor of sixteen siblings. Surviving are two daughters, Martha (Joey) B. Phillips and husband, D. A., of Gaffney and Kay Calvert of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Angela P. Pettit and husband, Johnny, of Gaffney, David Todd Coyle and wife, Phyllis, of Gaffney, Deanna Byers and husband, Scott, of Blacksburg, and Dewey Phillips of Gaffney; and a great-grandchild, Andrew Pettit of Gaffney. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Linda Barnes and fifteen sisters and brothers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Craig officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Angela P. Pettit, David Todd Coyle, Deanna Byers, Dewey Phillips, Andrew Pettit and Freddie Maddox. Pallbearers will be Wayne Brady, Bobby Simmons, Harry Brady, Johnny Pettit, Ronnie Brady and Richard Belch. Memorials may be made to: Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, S.C. 29340 or Midway Baptist Church, 153 Midway Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341. The family will be at the residence, 2202 Overbrook Drive, Gaffney, S.C.
