Description	:	Grandma was the fourth, and youngest, child of Egbert and Matilda Hook. She was born in Brownville, but spent most of her childhood in Brock, Nebraska. We have a picture of her on her horse that she rode to school every day. As her next oldest sibling, Gladys, was 13 years older than grandma, she was truly the baby of the family. Her nieces and nephews were more like siblings than her own brother and sisters. She remained very close to her parents until their deaths, often living with them or down the street... Read More	Grandma was the fourth, and youngest, child of Egbert and Matilda Hook. She was born in Brownville, but spent most of her childhood in Brock, Nebraska. We have a picture of her on her horse that she rode to school every day. As her next oldest sibling, Gladys, was 13 years older than grandma, she was truly the baby of the family. Her nieces and nephews were more like siblings than her own brother and sisters. She remained very close to her parents until their deaths, often living with them or down the street from them in the early years of her marriage. She met my grandfather, Ernie Rezac, while waitressing at a little cafe in Wahoo. At the time, she was living in town with her oldest sister, Hazel Anderson, and her family. Myrtle and Ernie were married the following year on February 20, 1932, and remained together until her death in 1994. After suffering a number of strokes starting in her early 60's, grandma eventually became a resident of Tabitha Nursing Home, which was a mile or so from home. Grandpa walked up to see her every day, no matter the weather. She remained the love of his life until his death in 2004. Myrtle and Ernie had 3 daughters - Donna (my mom), Peggy, and Sally. She was an excellent seamstress, kept a spotless house, didn't care much for cooking, and loved the color red. She always used red nail polish. I remember her wearing red small-flowered housedresses and red Keds (sneakers) around the house. She was the only person I knew, when I was a child, who drank tea. I loved to watch her dunk her tea bag.
