Description	:	Myrtle's was adopted by Teis and Hannah Mydland. Myrtle farmed with her husband on a farm SW of Hetland, SD, for many years. An article appeared in the paper about their work together in the fields as a family at harvest time. Even the young children were expected to help. Myrtle had the ability to make people feel welcome and their home was the site of many happy family gatherings. Myrtle farmed with her husband on a farm SW of Hetland, SD, for many years. An article appeared in the paper about their work together in the fields as a family at harvest time. Even the young children were expected to help. Myrtle had the ability to make people feel welcome and their home was the site of many happy family gatherings. The family moved to Rapid City in 1955 when their son Charles attended the School of Mines there. Myrtle became ill with tuberculosis and entered Sanator near Hot Springs, and later had half a lung removed in Denver. She was released from the hospital to care for her children when her son Caron had a car accident and was not expected to live. She and Charlie were separated and then divorced about 1957. After her recovery she worked as a bookkeeper for Dusecks furniture in Rapid City. The family moved to Minneapolis in 1960. Here she worked for Jerry's Foods as a bookkeeper. Myrtle's funeral service was held at the First Lutheran Church, St. Louis Park, Minneapolis, MN. Another service was held at Lake Whitewood Lutheran Church south of Hetland, SD, and she is buried in the cemetery at the Church.
