Jellison Mrs. Myrtle Hodges-Jellison passed away at the home of her brother, W. E. Hodge in Spirit Lake on Tuesday, April 9, 1918, after an illness lasting over several weeks. Early in the fall she was taken sick while at her home at Ottumwa, and for a time her life was despaired of. Mr. and Mrs. Hodge were called to Ottumwa at the time and it was thought that a change would assist her materially and they brought her to their home on Thanksgiving day. For a time she seemed to improve and visiting among relatives in the county, but several weeks ago she grew worse and gradually failed until the end came, as a relief to the tired body. Myrtle Hodge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Hodge, was born at Spencer, Iowa, on October 8, 1882. she was the youngest of a family of eight children, She grew to young womanhood in Dickinson county, her childhood days being spent on the Hodge homestead in Richland township, where the Hodge family resided until the death of the father in 1890. Upon the death of Mr. Hodge the family moved to Terril. On February 10, 1904, she was united in marriage to H. E. Jellison at that place. For the past eight years she has made her home at Ottumwa, but they had all plans made to make Spirit Lake their future home. The news of the death of Mrs. Jellison while not wholly unexpected was felt with keen regret by her many acquaintances of younger days who grew to love her for her true worth and grieve her untimely death. Besides the devoted husband, she leaves one sister, Mrs. Chas. Christ of near Superior, and four brothers, W. H. Hodge of Sioux City, Chas. Hodge of Racine, Wisconsin; Edward Hodge of Terril, and W. E. Hodge of this place. The funeral services were conducted from the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hodge this afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. S. H. Turbeville. Interment was made in the Lakeview cemetery. [Obituary is published in the Spirit Lake Beacon, April 11, 1918.] ---------
