Mack family of Omaha, former Hooper residents, received the sad word Sunday that Mrs. Mack had passed away that morning at the St. Joseph hospital in Omaha following an operation on Thursday. The news of her death came as a great shock to relatives and friends alike. Mrs. Mack formerly Miss Myrtle Izola Bendle, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bendle of this city. She was 43 years, 5 months and 27 days of age, having been born on May 21, 1883, at Kennard. She later made Hooper her home for a number of years and while here for several years was engaged in rural school teaching, and while engaged in this work she became well known and highly respected among our people. Her marriage to Mr. Mack occurred in 1904, then resided here until in 1917 when the family moved to Omaha. Besides the husband those who are called upon to mourn her death are three sons, Loren, Duane and Darel, all of Omaha; her aged parents and one brother, Clarence Bendle, of Hooper, and two sisters, Mrs. George Bullock of Ovid, Colo., and Mrs. Edgar Lecrone of Enid, Okla. Funeral services were held at Omaha, Tuesday afternoon, from the Plymouth Congregational church of which she was a member and a teacher in its Sunday school. The remains were brought to Hooper on the 10:30 train yesterday morning and taken to the Methodist church from where services were held at 11 o'clock with Rev. W. C. George conducting them. Interment was made in the Hooper cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Schemmel, Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Mack, Mrs Herbert Pfeiffer of Winslow, Mrs. Earl May, Clarence Bendle and H. E. Mack drove to Omaha to attend the funeral services there on Tuesday.
