Description	:	Bryson City - Myrtle Lee Payne Jenkins, 72, of Bryson City, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Mountain View Manor after a period of declining health. Born Nov. 28, 1932, on Nolands Creek in Swain County on the Road to Nowhere, she was a longtime employee of Belk Department Store in Bryson City until the store closed its doors. She was the daughter of the late Glenn Edwin and Bertha Mae Stephenson Payne and was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Frank Jenkins; sister, Helen Payne Walls; and brother, Kenneth Ray Payne. She is survived by two sons, Jerry Alan Jenkins of Anchorage, Alaska and Danny Phillip Jenkins of Bryson City; three grandchildren, Jennifer West, Julie Jenkins and Timothy Jenkins; great-granddaughter, Carlie Jenkins; two sisters, Pauline Payne Teague of Gastonia and Glenda Payne Eudy of High Shoals; four brothers, Wade of New Jersey, Charles of Clover, S.C., Wallace and Douglas Payne, both of Gastonia. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Evangelistic Tabernacle with the Rev. Jerry Orr officiating. Burial will be at Laurel Branch Cemetery.
