Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Schick officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at Bismarck Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Lois was born March 13, 1928, on the Peterson homestead, southeast of Bismarck, to [John] Lewis and Eldora (Dokken) Peterson. She attended Apple Creek School through eighth grade. She then went to Bismarck High School and graduated in 1946. She was employed by Broadway Grocery. She worked for Provident Life and was employed with the Unemployment Security Bureau, later known as Job Service, where she worked for 20 years. She retired in 1978. She was an active member of the Apple Creek Township Board, Burleigh County Homemakers and the Bismarck Eagles Auxiliary. On July 23, 1949, Lois married Carl Laemmle and they took up residence on the Peterson Homestead. Together they farmed and raised cattle. Lois loved to farm and wasn’t afraid of hard work. On the wonderful farm they called home, they raised three children. Lois enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, gambling and traveling with her husband Carl. Life’s adventures took them to Germany twice and Hawaii, to visit their son, Russ, who was in the military. They took trips back and forth to Laughlin, Nev., for 15 years and numerous vacations to Las Vegas with friends. They also took road trips to the east and west coast. Lois is survived by her son, Russell (Theresa) Laemmle, Junction City, Kan., and daughter, Carla (Mark) Gartner, Bismarck; her sister-in-law, Romana (Laemmle) Schlenker, Carson City, Nev.; her brother-in-law, Herb (Red) Laemmle, St. Paul, Minn.; her grandchildren, Trish Laemmle Duvall, Spokane, Wash., Jessica Laemmle, Junction City, Kan., Pamela (Dale) Laemmle-Spangler, Peoria, Ariz., Lisa Laemmle, Abilene, Kan., Nicole Sistrunk, Junction City, Kan., Kayla Gartner, Bismarck, Beth (Derek) Gartner-Thomas, Las Vegas, Nev., and Markee Gartner and Jacob Gartner, both of Bismarck; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, of 61 years; her son, Lynn; her parents, Lewis and Eldora Peterson; and sister, Hazel (Peterson) Doan. Miss Peterson is a graduate of Bismarck high school and is employed by the Provident Life Insurance Co. A graduate of Mandan high school, Mr. Laemle is employed by the Mandan Beverage Co.
